Schumacher breaks 52-year-old record at Platte meet

PLATTE – Miller’s Alex Schumacher took down a record that lasted more than half a century during the Platte-Geddes Last Chance track and field meet on Thursday.

Schumacher’s time of 1:57.19 in the 800-meter run edged out the previous school record of 1:57.20 set by Rick Nissen in 1972.

Pierce Baumberger of Miller won the 3,200 meter run, while teammate Isaak Hunter was second in both the 110-meter high hurdles and 300-meter intermediate hurdles.

Mount Vernon-Plankinton standout Berkeley Engelland won the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, and 400-meter dash.
