SIOUX FALLS – Northwestern’s Ella Boekelheide is among the nine runners who will be competing in the Girls Special 800-Meter Run at the Howard Wood Dakota Relays this weekend. The event is set for 6:05 p.m. Friday at Howard Wood Field.

Boekelheide has the fastest 800 time in Class B so far this spring. She finished runner-up at the state meet in the event last season.

The other runners in the field are Berkeley Engelland of Mount Vernon-Plankinton (the defending Class A state champion who has the third fastest time in state history at 2:10.78), Sydney Drevlow of Hopkins, Minn., Libby Castelli of O’Gorman, Mia Wentzy and Addison Scholten of Brandon Valley, Evva Selensky of St. Mary’s Central in Bismarck, N.D., Anna Vyn and Ellie Maddox of Sioux Falls Christian.
