Weinmeister Coach of the Year, other Cougars earn honors

Aberdeen Cougars girls’ hockey coach Rob Weinmeister has been named Coach of the Year, and a pair of Cougars have been named to the South Dakota Amateur Hockey Association second-team all-state unit.

Forwards Rachel Siefken and Kailyn Poppen, and goalie Chloe Vikander represent Aberdeen on the second team.

First team members are Ragyn Peska of Sioux Falls, Brynlee Sabers of Mitchell, Brylee Kafka of Oahe, Rylan Peska of Sioux Falls, Makenna Tronnes of Mitchell, and Sydney Fornwald of Sioux Falls.

Second team selections are Rachel Siefken of Aberdeen, Zoe Gorra of Sioux Falls, Kailyn Poppen of Aberdeen, Reese Amick of Mitchell, Paige Zimiga of Rushmore, and Chloe Vikander of Aberdeen.

Those chosen for the Hobey Baker Character Award are Morgan Jones of Aberdeen, Eva Ramm of Mitchell, Alayna Youngbluth of Oahe, Lillie Hoffman of Rushmore, Camille McCord of Sioux Center, Rylan Peska of Sioux Falls, and Kaelyn Melville of Watertown.
