SIOUX FALLS – The Aberdeen Smittys were swept by Sioux Falls Lincoln in high school baseball in totally different fashion on Friday.

The Smittys fell in the opening game 11-1 before coming up just short 8-7 in the nightcap.

Aberdeen was held to one hit in the first game, a double by Ridley Waldo who came in to score on a sacrifice fly by Jehiel Aviles in the third inning.

The Smittys got off to a big start in the second contest, scoring five runs in the top of the first inning.

Levi Hoffman drove in a run with a single, Michael Dutenhoffer had a sac fly, and Will Haskell belted a three-run home run to left field.

Aberdeen added another run in the second when Aviles singled and came around to score on a Jackson Post single.

However, Lincoln clawed back into the game with four runs in the third inning.

The Smittys scored once more in the fourth on a double from Aviles and another RBI single from Post.

Lincoln then scored twice in the fifth to get within one and jumped ahead in the sixth on a pair of solo home runs.

Post finished with four hits for the Smittys, while Aviles added three.

Aberdeen plays its final games of the regular season with a doubleheader at Brookings today.
