MITCHELL – The Clark Traders edged the Hartford-Humboldt Wood Ducks 7-6 during the semifinals of the Class B State Amateur Baseball Tournament on Saturday night. The Traders will now face the Alexandria Angels in today’s state championship at game at 2 p.m. at Cadwell Park.
Clark fought back from a four-run deficit against the Wood Ducks.
The Traders tied the game with four runs in the top of the fifth inning. Zach Toben had a two-run single, and Grayson Florey added a two-run double.
After Hartford-Humboldt regained the lead with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the frame, Clark scored once in the sixth on Toben’s sacrifice fly, and then took the lead with two runs in the top of the seventh.
The Traders tied the game on a fielder’s choice, before Florey scored what proved to be the game-winning run on a wild pitch.
Toben pitched a complete game for Clark, scrattering 12 hits and striking out six batters.
Florey had three hits and drove in three runs for the Traders. Watson Grantham contributed two hits, and Toben knocked in three.
