Clark Traders walk off Dell Rapids Mudcats in B quarters

MITCHELL – Zach Toben hit a one-out walk-off home run over the leftfield fence to lift the Clark Traders to an 8-7 win over the Dell Rapids Mudcats in the semifinals of the Class B State Amateur Baseball Tournament on Friday night.

The Mudcats scored once in the eighth inning, and were down to their final out in the ninth before producing two runs after three straight walks.

After an out in the bottom half of the frame, Toben ended the contest with a home run as the Traders advanced to tonight’s semifinal contest where they will face the Hartford-Humboldt Wood Ducks around 7:30.

Dell Rapids led 4-0 before Clark got on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning, and then exploded for six runs in the fifth.

Jakob Steen drove in a run with a single in the fourth. Toben deliver a two-run single in the fifth, Steen drove in another run with single, three runs came across via an error, and Andrew Magedanz capped the scoring on a sacrifice fly.

Toben finished with four hits and drove in three. Steen had a pair of hits and knocked in two.

Dell Rapids left the bases loaded in both the eighth and ninth innings.
