Clark Traders fall to Alexandria in State B title contest

MITCHELL – Alexandria got off to a stellar start, scoring nine runs in the top of the first inning, and never looked back on the way to winning the Class B State Amateur Baseball Championship with a 12-2 seven-inning victory over the Clark Traders on Sunday afternoon at Cadwell Park.

The Angels had seven of their 13 hits in the opening frame to key the offensive outburst.

Alexandria added three more runs in the second inning, two coming on a single by Dakota Munger, who pitched a complete game, striking out eight.

Clark got on the board with a run in the bottom of third inning on Zach Toben’s RBI single. The Traders added another run in the fifth when Cooper Pommer singled, stole second and scored on Jacob Steen’s single.

Steen and Marik Junker each collected two hits for Clark.

Ben Wilber finished with three hits to top Alexandria.
