REDFIELD – The Redfield Muskrats split a pair high school baseball games on Saturday, defeating Elkton-Lake Benton 11-1 before falling to Sioux Valley 16-3.

Redfield got off to a quick start against Elkton-Lake Benton, scoring five runs in the bottom of the first.

That was more than enough offense as Chace Odland and Grady Hulscher combined on a one-hitter. Odland struck out nine batters in five innings.

Odland and Noah Johnson each had two hits.

Sioux Valley exploded for 16 runs in the second inning of its win. The Cossacks took advantage of five hits, five hit batters, five walks and four errors in the frame.

Redfield’s Aiden Frankenstein drove in a pair of runs with a double in the third, and Jacksan Rude plated a run in the fifth on a single.

MILROY, Minn. – Groton played from behind all day in dropping a pair of games to Madison 4-0 and 9-3.

Groton’s Jarrett Erdmann struck out 11 batters. Madison scored all four runs in one inning bunching up four hits along with two Groton errors.

Lincoln Krause topped Groton with three hits.

Madison’s JD Prorok racked up 15 strikeouts in the other contest. The Bulldogs jumped out to a seven-run lead and held on from there.

Groton’s Gavin Englund drove in a run in the third, and TC Schuster plated a pair in the seventh.
