Big innings power Circus past Northville in Amateur win

Aberdeen Circus Sports Bar scored nine of its runs in a pair of innings on the way to a 12-2 Amateur baseball victory over the Northville Merchants on Wednesday night at Fossum Field.

Greg Heyne had a two-run single to put Northville in front in the top of first inning before Circus responded with four runs in the bottom half of the frame. Kris Kwak delivered a two-run double, and Kelly Coates drove in a run with a single.

Circus tacked on five more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. WolfDon Thorson had an RBI single, Kwak drove in a pair with a single, Josh Steinwandt produced a sac fly, and Casey Vining capped the scoring with an RBI double.

Aberdeen scored two more runs in the seventh, the first coming on a solo home run from Thorson, and then ended the game on the 10-run rule in the eighth when Steinwandt doubled and came in to score on a Vining sac fly.

Kwak finished with three hits and drove in four. Thorson, Coates, Michael Babcock, and Colton Cox each added two hits for Circus, which finished with 16 hits in all.

Joran Foss struck out 10 batters in five innings on the mound for Aberdeen.
