Groton outscores Miller for baseball victory

MILLER – Groton built a 13-run lead and then held on for a 16-11 win over Miller in high school baseball action Friday night.

The Tigers scored three times in both the first and second innings, and put up six runs in the top fourth.

Miller closed the gap to 13-11 with seven runs in the fourth and four more in the fifth, before Groton plated the last three runs for the final margin of victory.

Nick Groeblinghoff and Karsten Fliehs each had three hits for Groton. Groeblinghoff, Alex Abeln, and TC Schuster each drove in a pair of runs.

Chase Hurd powered Miller with three hits and three RBI. Jett Kleinsasser added a pair of hits and also knocked in three.
