Early runs propel Warner-Ipswich-Northwestern over Clark

NORTHVILLE – Warner-Ipswich-Northwestern scored three runs in the first two innings and turned back the Clark Dinosaurs 4-2 in high school baseball action Wednesday night.

Clark got on the board in the top of the first when Cooper Pommer singled, was bunted to second, and scored on a Charlie Luvaas single.

W-I-N scored twice in the bottom first frame on back-to-back walks and a two-run error.

The hosts extended their lead on an RBI single from Cash Bahr in the bottom of the second.

Clark sliced the deficit to a run in the third when Pommer doubled and came in on a single from Watson Grantham

Mac Heinz hit a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth for the final margin of difference. Clark had two on and two out in the top of the seventh before popping up to end the game.

Grantham finished with three hits, while Pommer and Luvaas each had two.

Quinn Huettl struck out nine batters while going the distance for W-I-N.
