CLARK – A two-out single in the top of the sixth helped lift Groton to a 1-0 win over Clark in high school baseball action on Monday evening.

The two squads were hooked up in a tight pitcher’s duel between Groton’s Jarrett Erdmann and Clark’s Watson Grantham heading to the sixth inning. That’s when Alex Abeln singled, advanced to second on a wild pitch and came in to score the game’s only run on a two-out single by Nick Groeblinghoff.

Erdmann, who walked four and struck out six, eventually gave way in the bottom of the seventh to Abeln, who recorded the final out for the victory.

Grantham struck out 13 batters in going the distance for the Dinosaurs.

Abeln finished with two hits on the night for the Tigers.
