Castlewood falls to Canova at State B Amateur tourney

MITCHELL – The Canova Gang scored six unanswered runs on the way to a 7-1 win over the Castlewood Ravens during the opening round of the Class B State Amateur Baseball Tournament on Saturday evening.

Castlewood tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the fourth when Tucker Wookey singled and came around to score on a single by Lucas Ching.

However, that was all the runs that the Ravens could muster.

Canova scored three runs on a bases-loaded double from Garrett Gassman in the fifth, before Dawson Bakker added a two-run home run in the seventh. The Gang added a single run in the eighth for the final margin of difference.

Wookey finished with a pair of hits to lead Castlewood.
