Winner-Colome defeats Redfield in battle of Pheasants

MITCHELL – The Winner-Colome Pheasants scored eight runs in the second inning on the way to a 16-1 win over the Redfield Pheasants during the opening round of the State B Amateur Baseball Tournament at Cadwell Park on Saturday night.

Winner-Colome pieced together eight of its 17 hits in the second frame, including a two-run double by Derek Graesser and a two-run single by Austin Calhoon.

Drew DeMers later added a two-run single in the sixth for Winner-Colome.

Calhoon finished with four hits, Austin Richey and Luke Bamberg each had three hits, and DeMers added two hits and knocked in three.

Meanwhile, Graesser struck out nine batters in before Patrick Starr fanned four in relief.

Redfield scored its lone run in the sixth inning on a walk, singles by Barrett Wren and Rafael Clemente, and a bases-loaded walk by Drew Dickhaut.
