Milbank Firechiefs double up Platte

MITCHELL – The Milbank Firechiefs put up five runs in the bottom of the first inning on the way to an 8-4 win over the Platte Killer Tomatoes during the opening game of the Class B State Amateur Baseball Tournament at Cadwell Park Wednesday night.

Platte battled back and eventually closed the gap to 6-4 before the Firechiefs tacked on two more runs for the final margin of difference.

Dominique Boerger had a pair of hits and knocked in three runs. He also struck out three batters while on the mound.

Lance Frogner also had two hits for Milbank.

Justin Larson fanned six batters in 5 and 2/3 innings for the Firechiefs.
