Sisseton edges Milbank in pitchers dual

SISSETON – Sisseton defeated Milbank 2-1 in an American Legion baseball game Thursday that featured 26 strikeouts.

Sisseton’s Rylan Anderson struck out 13 batters and did not allow a run in five innings. Meanwhile, Milbank’s Mack Kopplin fanned nine batters in five-plus innings of work.

Sisseton scored a run in the bottom of the second on an LJ Crooks RBI single. The hosts added what proved to be an important insurance run in the third inning on an error.

Milbank cut the deficit in half in the top of the sixth when Tyler Heinje drove in a run on a double, however, the visitors stranded runners on second and third to end the frame.
