Groton holds off late Northville rally to claim Amateur win

NORTHVILLE – Groton Locke Electric built two five-run leads and held off a late rally by the Northville Merchants to claim a 9-7 Amateur baseball victory on Sunday.

Brian Hansen finished with a game-high five hits for Groton, which led 5-0 going into the bottom of the seventh, and 9-2 heading into the bottom of the ninth.

Ben Althoff had three hits and knocked in four runs for Groton. Palmer Boyd struck out nine batters in six innings.

Cash Bahr and Carson Simes each drove in a pair of runs for Northville, which scored five times in the last of the ninth and had the tying run at the plate when the game ended on a fly out.
