Local players excel in all-star baseball games

BRANDON β€” Team Black swept two games from Team Red in the South Dakota Baseball Coaches Association’s American Legion All-Star Baseball games on Monday.

The games featured senior Class A and B players from all over the state of South Dakota.

Team Black won the opener 5-3 and completed the sweep with a 10-6 win in the second game.

Tad Tjaden of Dell Rapids and Isaac Brown of Big Stone City each had two hits to lead Team Black in the opener. Joe Schulte of Milbank went three innings for the win.

Brevin Fliehs of Groton drove in two runs with a double and a single for Team Red. Jadon Moreno of Rapid City Post 22 took the loss. Moreno also doubled.

Schulte, Brown and Aiden Roberts of Rapid City Post 22 collected two hits apiece for Team Black in the second game. Schulte and Mark Kathol of Yankton each laced doubles. Skyler Montgomery of Rapid City Post 22 went four innings for the win.

Korbin Kucker of Groton doubled and plated two runs for Team Red, which received two hits from Keaton Gale of Elk Point-Jefferson. Fliehs smacked a triple and Dawson Inhofer of Rapid City Post 22 a double.

Braxton Allen of Colton started and took the loss.
