Clark-Willow Lake to face Lake Norden-Badger for 6B title

CLARK – Clark-Willow Lake edged Lake Norden-Badger in 4-2 in eight innings to reach the championship of the Region 6B American Legion baseball tournament on Thursday afternoon, and the rematch will take place today after LN-B walked off Warner-Ipswich-Northwestern. Lake Norden-Badger will need to defeat Clark-Willow Lake twice in order to advance to the State B Tournament next week in Milbank.

Clark-Willow Lake scored four times in the top of the eighth. Watson Grantham broke the scoreless tie with a two-run single, before a pair of wild pitches pushed the margin to four runs.

Lake Norden-Badger cut the margin in half on an RBI single from Caleb Drenth and a ground out in the bottom half of the eight. LN-B had the tying runs on base before the game ended on a strikeout.

Tyson Huber had two hits to pace Clark-Willow Lake, while Turner Stevenson matched that total for Lake Norden-Badger. Both had doubles.

Warner-Ipswich-Northwestern 20, Redfield 5

Warner-Ipswich-Northwestern scored five times in the first inning, and nine times in the seventh to eliminate Redfield 20-5. W-I-N sent 10 batters to the plate in the first frame, and 14 to the plate in the seventh.

Devon Fischbach, Logan Fischbach, and Lincoln Kroll each drove in runs in the first.

Chays Mansfield, Kroll, Jacob Schmitt, Devon Fischbach, Alec Mikkelsen, Logan Fischbach and Mac Heinz, all drove in runs in the seventh.

Devon Fischbach, and Mikklesen each three hits for W-I-N, which racked up 17 hits in the contest. Schmitt, Logan Fischbach, Heinz, and Lincoln Kroll each contributed two hits. Schmitt, Logan Fischbach, Brayden Kroll, and Lincoln Kroll each knocked in two runs.

Jacksan Rude had two hits, including a double, and drove in a pair for Redfield.

Lake Norden-Badger 4, Warner-Ipswich-Northwestern 3

Lake Norden-Badger walked off Warner-Ipswich-Northwestern 4-3 in the bottom of the seventh in an elimination game. Caleb Drenth delivered a one-out single to drive in the game-winning run.

Lake Norden-Badger tailed 2-1, before grabbing a one-run lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth.

W-I-N was down to its final out in the top of the seventh, before Xavier Kadlec singled in the tying run.

That set the stage for the bottom half of the frame. A walk and a single put a runner into scoring position and Drenth produced the walk-off hit.

Ted Smith, who threw 107 pitches on the night, had a pair of hits for Lake Norden-Badger, while Mac Heinz had two hits for W-I-N.
