CLARK – Clark-Willow Lake scored two late runs to rally past Warner-Ipswich-Northwestern 4-3, while Lake Norden-Badger produced five unanswered runs to fuel a 6-1 win over Redfield in Region 6B American Legion baseball action on Tuesday night.

Trailing 3-2 heading into the sixth inning, Clark-Willow Lake plated two runs to surge in front. Watson Grantham walked, moved up on a bunt, got to third on a wild pitch and ended up scoring on a ground out to tie the score. Jakob Steen then doubled home Cooper Pommer with what proved to be the game-winning run.

The contest was a back-and-forth battle up to that point.

W-I-N opened the scoring on an error in the second. CWL answered with a run in the top of the third on four straight hits, including an RBI single from Steen.

W-I-N regained the lead in the bottom half of the frame when Jacob Schmitt tripled to lead-off the inning and came in on a ground out.

Clark-Willow Lake again tied the score in the top of the fourth on a run-producing single from Pommer, before W-I-N took one more lead using back-to-back walks, and a wild pitch before Chays Mansfield scored on double play.

Pommer and Charlie Luvaas each pitched two innings of hitless relief for CWL.

Steen finished with three hits, and drove in a pair, while Pommer, Will Hovde, and Grantham each had a pair of hits.

Redfield had chances in both the sixth and seventh frames, however, double plays in both of those innings erased those opportunities

Lake Norden-Badger jumped in front with a run in the third on an RBI double from Dawson Noem. Redfield responded with a run in the top of the fourth when Chace Odland doubled, moved into scoring position on a single by Noah Johnson, and ended up scoring on a sac fly from Micah Zastrow.

That’s when Lake Norden-Badger took over, scoring once in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI single from Stevenson, and then tacking on four in the sixth on an RBI single from Caleb Drenth, before Stevenson’s blast.
