
MILBANK – Dom Boerger struck out 22 batters to help power the Milbank Firechiefs to a win over the Castlewood Ravens, while Redfield Dairy Queen scored eight late runs to rally past the Northville Merchants in Amateur baseball action on Sunday.
Runs were hard to come by in Milbank’s 3-2 win over Castlewood. The Ravens also received a solid pitching performance from Alex Gauer who struck out 11 batters and allowed just one earned run.
Milbank scored single runs in the first and third innings to take a two-run lead. Merik Junker tripled and scored on a error on the same play in the first, and Taylor Boerger had an RBI double in the third.
Castlewood tied the score in the fifth when Adam Ching drove in a run with a single and then scored on a single by Gauer.
The Firechiefs scored what proved to be the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh. Dom Boerger reached on an error and crossed the plate on a double by Kellen Hoeke.
Brady Krause and Hoeke each had two hits for Milbank.

Redfield 9, Northville 4
Redfield trailed 3-1 heading into the seventh inning before its offense got going, plating three runs in the seventh, four more in the eighth, and another in the ninth on the way to a 9-4 victory.
Noah Hainy had an RBI double and Camden Osborn drove in a run in the seventh, Peyton Osborn and Hainy each drove in runs and errors accounted for two more in the eighth, and Cooper Hainy plated a run in the ninth.
The Merchants led the majority of the contest after scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Greg Heyne and Landon Fischbach each drew bases-loaded walks.
Nathan Hainy drove in a run for Redfield in the second, and Ashton Remily had an RBI double in the eighth for Northville.
Noah Hainy finished with three hits and drove in a pair, Cooper Hainy followed with two hits, and Bennett Osborn, Keaton Rohlfs, and Brent Osborn each scored two runs for DQ.
Remily topped Northville with three hits, Ethan Beyers added two, and Xavier Kadlec scored twice.
