Groton pitching powers sweep over Webster

GROTON – A pair of Groton pitchers allowed a combined one earned run over 10 innings in a sweep over Webster in American Legion baseball on Wednesday.

Nick Morris tossed a five-inning no-hitter in a 9-0 win in the first game. Morris struck out 11 batters and allowed just one walk.

Kellen Antonsen scattered six hits, struck out six, and did not walk a single batter in a 5-2 win the second contest.

Groton scored in each inning of the opener. Teylor Diegel and Korbin Kucker each had two hits, drove in a pair, and scored twice in the victory.

Groton scored five runs in the first two innings of the night cap. Morris had a sacrifice fly in the first inning, while Braxton Imrie singled, stole second, and came in on a single by TC Schuster in the second.

Brent Bearman doubled, moved up on a single, and then stole home for Webster in the fourth inning.

No player had more than one hit for either side in the second game.
