BRANDON – Fargo scored nine runs in the last two innings to pull away from the Aberdeen Smittys on the way to a 13-3 American Legion baseball win during the Dakota Classic on Sunday afternoon.

The squad from North Dakota scored all eight of its runs in the seventh inning after two outs were recorded. Fargo, which improved to 8-2 on the season, had four hits, and took advantage of five walks, a hit batter, and error during the uprising. Ethan Doll had the big hit, delivering a bases-loaded triple.

Aberdeen scored all three of its runs in the third frame. Jehiel Aviles and Lance Siefken singled to start the inning. Jared Klootwyk singled in Aviles, Siefken scored on a ground out, and Klootwyk came in on a wild pitch.

Aviles, Siefken, and Grant Beyer each had a pair of hits for the Smittys.

Aberdeen has a doubleheader at Yankton on Wednesday, and another at Harrisburg on Thursday.
