MILBANK – Groton moved into the championship game of the Region 1B American Legion Baseball Tournament on Wednesday thanks to a 6-2 victory over Milbank.
Groton is the lone unbeaten team in the tourney and will face Sisseton in the title game today after Sisseton eliminated Milbank later in the day. Sisseton also eliminated Claremont earlier in the afternoon.
Groton scored three runs in the third inning, two on Gavin Englund’s double, and another on an RBI single by TC Schuster. Carter Simon had a pair of RBI singles for two of Groton’s other three runs.
TC Schuster tossed a complete-game three-hitter and struck out six batters.
Alex Abeln led the Groton offense with three hits. Simon and Nick Groeblinghoff each finished with two.

REGION 6B AT WEBSTER
WEBSTER – Volga remained unbeaten with a 3-1 win over Britton in Region 6B action on Wednesday. Volga will face Clark-Willow Lake in the title game, which eliminated both Lake Norden-Badger and Britton on the day. Volga handed Clark-Willow Lake its only loss in the opening round on Tuesday.

Volga allowed just one first-inning run before silencing Britton the rest of the way. Colton Chapin had a pair of hits for Britton.
Clark-Willow Lake collected 23 runs and 24 hits in its two wins on the day.
Cooper Pommer had six hits, three in each contest for CWL.
