SALEM – With its season on the line, Lake Norden-Badger relied on some season-long staples to rack up a 14-4 win over Platte-Geddes in an elimination round game during the State B American Legion Baseball Tournament on Saturday morning.
LN-B received a solid effort from up and down its lineup, and quality pitching performances on the way to the victory.
“We put together a lot of quality at-bats today,” said Lake Norden-Badger coach Brad Noem. “Everyone 1-9 contributed, which has been our formula all year.”
Lake Norden-Badger scored in every inning but the first. The squad jumped out to a two-run lead in the top of the second on Lane Tvedt’s lead-off home run and another run coming in on an error.
After Platte-Geddes tied the score in the bottom half of the frame, LN-B scored four more runs in the third. Tvedt, Tyson Stevenson, and Ryker Warrington each had RBI hits.
Lake Norden-Badger went on to score once in the fourth, twice in the fifth and sixth, and three times in the seventh. Along the way Dawson Noem had an RBI single, Tyson Stevenson delivered a sacrifice fly, and Warrington capped the scoring with a two-run single in the seventh.
Noem, Tvedt, and Warrington each finished with two hits. Warrington drove in three runs, while Stevenson scored four times.
A trio of Lake Norden-Badger pitchers combined to hold Platte-Geddes to four runs. Starter Cristhian Rodriguez struck out four batters, before Rylan Thue and Jackson Wadsworth came on in relief.
