The Northville Merchants scored seven runs in the second inning and rode the solid pitching of Jeremiah Maxfield to a 12-2 win over Aberdeen Circus Sports Bar in Amateur baseball action Tuesday night at Fossum Field.
Northville received RBI singles from Maxfield, Greg Heyne, Ethan Beyers and Levi Little in the second inning to go along with bases-loaded walks from Scott Hamiel and Kyle Stahl, and a sacrifice fly from Ashton Remily.
Circus got two runs back in the bottom half of the frame on a sac fly from Michael Babcock and an RBI single from Josh Steinwandt, but that would be the final runs for the rest of the night.
Maxfield allowed just five total hits and struck out seven batters in going the distance for Northville.
The Merchants added single runs in the fourth, sixth and eighth innings, and two runs in the seventh. Max Waltman, Carson Simes, and Beyers each accounted for RBI doubles during that surge.
Simes, Heyne and Beyers each had two hits for Northville, which avenged an earlier setback to Circus. Beyers drove in a pair.
