Steinwandt powers Smittys past Clark

CLARK – Josh Steinwandt hit and pitched the Aberdeen Smittys past Clark in an 11-0 American Legion baseball victory during the Clark Tournament on Friday.

Steinwandt finished with two doubles, a home run and drove in seven runs on offense. He also threw a five-inning two-hit shutout, striking out four batters.

Steinwandt helped his own cause with a two-run double in the top of the first inning.

Aberdeen added three more runs in the third before piling on six more runs in the fifth. Steinwandt, Brock Martin, Max Prehn and Tyler Hoffman all plated runs in the sixth frame.

Prehn, Aiden McCafferty and Nick Clemens all had two hits for the Smittys, who pounded out 11 hits in all. Martin drove in two runs.

The Smittys will face Milbank at 5 p.m. today in the third place game of the tournament.
