The Aberdeen Smittys walked off Huron in nine innings before suffering a nine-inning setback in a long night of American Legion baseball at Fossum Field Monday night. The Smittys took the opener 5-4 before falling 11-10 in the nightcap.

Matt Feiock delivered the game-winning hit in the bottom of the ninth in the first game.

Brock Martin had three hits for Aberdeen, which led 4-0 before Huron tied the contest with four runs in the top of the sixth. Feiock added two hits.

A pair of Smittys pitchers struck out 13 Huron batters in the contest. Nick Clemens fanned eight, while Josh Steinwandt added five more Ks in three innings of relief.

The Smittys trailed 4-0 in the nightcap before surging ahead with six runs in the fifth inning. Brian Holmstrom, Tyler Hoffman, Steinwandt and Feiock all drove in runs in the frame.

Huron then regained the lead with five runs in the top of the sixth, before Aberdeen rallied again with three runs in the bottom half of the inning.

After Huron scored one run in the top of the eighth, Feiock tied the game in the bottom half of the frame with an RBI double. The visitors then scored again in the top of the ninth and the Smittys were unable to answer in their half of the inning.

Tyson Lien had three hits and drove in four to lead Huron, and Peyton Bischoff had three hits and knocked in three.

The Aberdeen offense was led by Hoffman, who finished with three hits, three runs batted in and a pair of runs scored.

Steinwandt, Feiock and Cade Trenhaile each contributed two hits. Feiock and Nick Clemens each drove in a pair.
