SIOUX FALLS – Aberdeen Central gave up a pair of unanswered goals in the second half and ultimately dropped a 2-1 non-conference boys’ soccer decision to O’Gorman in the regular-season finale Thursday evening.

The Golden Eagles got on the board with a goal in the first half from Bryson Burgard, who punched in the net off an assist from Liam Johnson in the 37th minute.

That goal put the Golden Eagles up by a 1-0 count heading into the break. O’Gorman, however, found just enough room in the second half to put home a pair of goals, one in the 47th minute to tie it and the final one coming late in the 72nd minute to go ahead.

“We didn’t play well enough for long enough during the game to get a different result,” said Central coach Lance Mohr.

Central, which had not lost in seven straight contests leading up to the final week of the regular season, has now dropped its final two games ahead of the Class AA playoffs, which begin on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles, 9-3-2, will host a contest in the opening round at Brownell Activities Complex.
