GROTON – Groton rallied not once, but twice, to close out the regular season with a 3-2 win over Garretson in girls’ soccer action on Thurday.

The Tigers trailed 1-0 and 2-1 in the opening half, before responding each time.

Sydney Locke scored in the 14th minute to tie the score at 1-1, and McKenna Tietz scored in the 30th minute to knot the score at 2-2.

Tietz then provided the game-winning goal in the 49th minute of the second half.

“We started a touch slower than we wanted to, but credit goes to the girls for sticking with their talents and crawling back from down a goal twice in the first half,” said Groton coach Matt Baumgartner. “I was happy to play lots of rotations with the approaching playoffs starting Tuesday.”

Groton will face St. Thomas More in the opening with the location yet to be determined. STM has one game remaining.
