SIOUX FALLS – Aberdeen Central found its self on the opposite ends of the spectrum on Saturday to wrap up five tennis duals in two days. The Golden Eagles started the day by blanking Sioux Falls Roosevelt 9-0, before falling to Sioux Falls Lincoln 9-0.
Mady Holman at flight three singles, and Jovee Waldo at flight five singles, both pulled out wins in super-tiebreakers against Roosevelt.
While Central lost to the Patriots, Sarah Knie at top flight singles, and Estelle Riggs at second flight singles, both fell in super-tiebreakers.
“Girls were tired today due to (Friday’s) long day, but were able to take care of business against Roosevelt,” said Central coach John Vogel. “We still had energy for singles against Lincoln. Kudos to Sarah and Estelle on pushing their top girls. Everyone else played well, too. Lincoln is darn good.”
However, the Golden Eagles did not have much energy remaining for doubles against Lincoln.
“The tank ran dry for doubles,” Vogel said. “We had nothing left.”
Central went 2-3 in its five duals against the Sioux Falls squads. The Golden Eagles now have a break before going to Brookings this coming weekend where they will play Brookings, Harrisburg and Yankton on Friday, and Huron and Watertown on Saturday.
