MADISON – Aberdeen Roncalli won two matches at each flight of doubles during the Madison Invitation Tennis Tournament on Saturday. The Cavaliers grabbed a runner-up finish and two consolation championships.

“All three doubles teams won two out of three matches today,” said Roncalli coach Ryan Bohle. “It was great to see our doubles teams play well today because we definitely worked extra on the doubles in practice this week.”

The flight three team of Abby Andersen and Lydia Nora took second, while the top flight squad of Josie Mitzel and Sydney Bohle, and the second flight tandem of Gianna Cihak and Molleigh Hofer, both finished in fifth place.

“Lydia and Abigail continue to play as well as anyone at flight three,” Coach Bohle said. “This was Gianna and Molleigh’s first matches together at flight two this year and they definitely showed how great of a tandem they are. Josie and Sydney also showed they can be sneaky dangerous at flight one.”

Roncalli finished the indivitational with a total of three runner-up finishes and four consolation titles.

The Cavaliers will play against Yankton and Brookings at Brookings on Saturday.

“We still have things to clean up at practice this week,” Bohle said, “but definitely happy with the weekend outcomes.”
