While most of the Class A track and leaders remained the same from a week ago, there were several area athletes who managed to move up the ranks this past week.
Lucas Johnson of Great Plains Lutheran climbed to second in the high jump with a leap of 6-feet, 5-inches. Groton’s Jayden Schwan moved into fifth in the 800-meter run. Zoe Nichols of Clark-Willow Lake is now seventh in the 100-meter hurdles. And Katie Wollman of Mobridge-Pollock cracked the leaders with the eighth best throw in the discus.
A group of Northeast Conference athletes continues to top numerous events in the boys’ division. Deuel’s Oliver Fieber has the fastest times in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, and runs on two relays with the best times this year, the 400-meter and 800-meter. Milbank’s Sam Rick has the best triple jump, and Webster’s Matthew Mount has the top throw in the discus.
Other area boys in the leaders are Groton’s Keegen Tracy who is third in the 400, and eighth in both the 100 and 200, Milbank’s Bryton Blauert who is third in the pole vault followed by Rick in fourth, Mount who is fourth in the shot put followed by Kellen Pfitzer of Mobridge-Pollock in fifth, Lawson Novy of Milbank in sixth, and Michael Severson of Clark-Willow Lake in seventh, Milbank’s Harley Zemlicka who is fourth in the 110 hurdles and seventh in the 300 hurdles, Mount who is fourth in the discus followed by Pfitzer in fifth and Novy in sixth, Rick who is fourth in the long jump, Isaak Hunter of Miller who is sixth in the 110 hurdles followed by Webster’s Jeron McCreary in eighth, Schwan who is seventh in the 1,600, and Trayden Stambach of Mobridge-Pollock who is sixth in the triple jump.
Groton is fourth in the 1,600-meter relay.
Other area girls in the leaders include Eliza Larson of Clark-Willow Lake who is third in the shot put, Groton’s McKenna Tietz who is fourth in the 300 hurdles, Bentley Bauer of Mobridge-Pollock who is fourth in the long jump and fifth in the 100, Britton-Hecla’s Abigail Lee who is fourth in the triple jump, Deuel’s Hannah Cutshaw who is fourth in the pole vault followed by teammate Kamdyn Peterreins in fifth, and Milbank’s Jacy Dexter in seventh and Raina Untalan in eighth, Jayda Thompson of Mobridge-Pollock who is seventh in the 300 hurdles, Clark-Willow Lake’s Cadence Bochek who is seventh in the 400, and Kamryn Nesheim who is seventh in the 1,600, Milbank’s Anna Neugebauer who is eighth in the shot put, and GPL’s Abby Kjenstad who is eighth in the long jump.

Area girls’ relays in the leaders are Clark-Willow Lake which is third in the 1,600, fifth in the medley and eighth in the 800, Groton which is fourth in the 800 and seventh in the 1,600, Milbank which is fifth in the 1,600, and Mobridge-Pollock which is eighth in the 1,600.
