Clark edges Groton 2-1 for baseball victory

GROTON – The Clark Dinosaurs made a pair of early runs stand up on the way to a 2-1 win over Groton in high school baseball action on Tuesday.

Groton jumped in front in the bottom of the first inning when Alex Abeln doubled and scored on a single by Nick Groeblinghoff.

Clark answered with two runs in the top of the second, both coming in on one of six Groton errors in the contest.

The Tigers threatened twice late in the game. Groton loaded the bases with one out in the sixth before a force out and a strikeout ended that threat. The Tigers advanced a runner to third in the bottom of the seventh before a strikeout finished off the contest.

A trio of Clark pitchers combined to strike out eight batters. Cooper Pommer threw four and one-third innings and fanned four.
