SIOUX FALLS – In a battle of one-loss, top-five programs, it was the second-rated O’Gorman Knights that emerged victorious Tuesday night. The Knights doubled up No. 4 Aberdeen Central by halftime and never let the Golden Eagles in contention in the second half en route to an 83-55 non-conference girls’ basketball victory Tuesday night.

O’Gorman hit four 3-pointers in the opening half and scored 29 points in the second quarter alone. Conversely, the Golden Eagles managed just two field goals and seven total points in the first quarter.

Central did gain traction on the offensive end after that opening quarter, but the hole was too deep, too fast for the Golden Eagles to climb back into contention.

“O’Gorman is a good team,” said Central coach Paiton Burckhard. “We saw what we expected to see. We learn and move on to a next great opponent on Saturday.”
