BRANDON – Aberdeen Central finished with four champions and four runners-up en route to a dominant team victory at the Brandon Valley Invitational Friday.

The Golden Eagles put more than 60 points between themselves on runner-up Central Lyon/George Little Rock out of Iowa. Central finished with 285.5 points to Central Lyon’s 222. Host Brandon Valley was a distant third with 173.5 in the 23-team field.

“The girls wrestled very well,” said Central coach Jake Flakus.

Central got individual championship efforts from Madison Little (110 pounds), Jasmine Maas (115), Lin Paw Jone (155) and Lilly Nelson (170). Jone, in particular, pinned her way to the top, winning her title with four straight falls to claim her first tournament victory of the year.

Paisley Stewart (100), Avery Bendewald (105), Rakyrah Wallace (140) and Allison Neitzel (145) each advanced to the championship round of their respective weights before finishing in the runner-up slot.

Central also finished with four sixth-place efforts, a pair of fourth place showings, two thirds and a fifth.

“Overall, I am very proud of my wrestlers today,” Flakus said. “We look forward to some good competition next week.”

The Golden Eagles head to Yankton next Thursday for an Eastern South Dakota Conference dual.
