AGENCY VILLAGE – There would be no letdown for the Aberdeen Roncalli volleyball team.
Two nights after a hard-fought, emotional five-set win over Miller, the Cavaliers came back and took care of business in a 25-7, 25-8, 25-8 Northeast Conference sweep over Tiospa Zina Thursday night.
“The girls kept the momentum the entire game,” said Roncalli coach Leesa Ware, “and it was really nice getting all the girls floor time at the varsity level tonight.”
Roncalli racked up 16 aces on the night to set the tone from the service line. Rylee Voeller and Grace Cogley the way with six aces apiece, and Cambry Feickert contributed four.
The Cavaliers also featured a balanced hitting attack. Gabby Thomas had a team-leading six kills, with Voeller and Cogley each finishing with five.
Elyana Roach topped the team with 18 set assists.
Roncalli, 3-1 on the season, has a huge week of action ahead. The Cavaliers play at Florence-Henry on Tuesday, before hosting NEC rivals Groton on Thursday and Hamlin on Saturday.
“We have some fights ahead of us with Groton and Hamlin,” Ware said. “We are fortunate they are home games, but we need to regroup and focus on the competition ahead. They will be good.”
