The Groton Invitational on Tuesday produced some quality performances among the Class B track and field leaders.
Isaac Sumption of Frederick clocked a personal best time in the 100-meter dash during the meet and currently ranks second in that event. Eric Severson of Ipswich recorded the second best throw in the discus in that meet.
As a whole, Lake Region Conference athletes continue to make their presence felt in the leaders.
Warner’s Cody Larson leads the 1,600 and 3,200 and is second to North Central’s Alec Maier in the 800. Maier is third in the 400 and fifth in the 200. Sumption is also tied for third in the 200. Zander Widener of Langford is first in both hurdles and tied for seventh in the 200. Jackson McNeil is second in the shot put, Kade Larson of Langford Area is second in the triple jump and Ipswich is second in a pair of relays.
On the girls’ side Stevie Wittler of Sully Buttes is tops in the 100 hurdles and third in the 300 hurdles. Jessica Boekleheide of Northwestern is second in the 100 and seventh in the 200. Teammate Sydney Schell is tied for third in the 100. Both girls run on an 800-meter relay team which has the second fastest time.
Emily Breske of Dakota Hills and Peyton Melius of Faulkton are tied for third in the high jump.
