Braun finishes runner-up at SDGA Amateur

SIOUX FALLS – Aberdeen’s Olivia Braun finished second at the South Dakota Golf Association Women’s Amateur Championship at Elmwood Golf Course on Sunday.

Braun, who led the three-day event after the opening round, finished with a 54-hole total of 220. The two-time Class AA state champ shot a 72 during the first and third rounds and a 76 on Saturday, and finished three strokes off the place.

Rapid City’s Kaitlin Strain won the women’s division with a three-round total of 217. She fired scores of 70 and 71 in her final two rounds.

Watertown’s Brynn Roerich finished in a tie for fifth with a score of 225.

Parker Edens of Brookings won the Men’s Amateur Championship in a one-hole playoff over Dakota Munger of Pukwana. Both golfers finished with identical three-round scores of 2006.
