IPSWICH – A quartet of area athletes won a pair of open events during the Ipswich Tiger Relays track and field meet on Saturday.
Warner’s Beckham Cantalope swept the 110-meter high hurdles and the 300-meter intermediate hurdles, Kyle Hettich of Ipswich won the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, Hoven’s Danika Kaup won the 100 hurdles and the 200 dash, and Ella Boekelheide of Northwestern won the 400-meter dash and the 1,600-meter run.
Hettich also ran on the winning 800-meter relay team, and Kaup was second in the 300 hurdles.
Aberdeen Roncalli athletes continued to show major progress.
“This was our best overall day of the season so far,” said Roncalli co-coach Mark Stone. “We had lots of personal best performances in the field events and the track events.”
Austin Fisher won the high jump for the Cavaliers.
Stone said the athletes are competing at a high level.
“We’re just really proud of the teams for their effort and the way they competed today,” Stone said. “We talk often about simply competing against yourself and your previous best. When they give their best, there’s nothing more to give.”

Aberdeen Christian athletes also made a major impact.
The Knights won the 400-meter relay. Members were Dylan Hofer, Luke Kaiser, Eben Wurgler, and Loyall Smith-Wade.
“The kids were very disciplined and focused,” said Knights coach Sam Bjorkman. “Several PRs in throws and a number on the track. So happy for these kids to see them keep improving.”
