Wolves capture women’s win over Bemidji

BEMIDJI, Minn. – Izzy Moore lit up the scoreboard with a 26-point performance as Northern State picked up a 73-55 win over Bemidji State in women’s college basketball Thursday night.

The Wolves inched closer to a berth in the upcoming Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament with the victory.

Taylor Tool scored the first points of the game on NSU’s first possession forcing the Beavers to play catch up all night.

Northern’s first 16 points of the night came from Moore, Tool, and Megan Counts. Moore scored half of the first 16, while Tool and Counts split the remaining eight points with four each.

Moore finished the night shooting 9-of-17 from the field and 7-for-8 from the line. She also grabbed 11 rebounds, with seven of them being offensive.

Counts finished with 17 points shooting 8-for-10 from the field. Tool put up 12 points.

Northern scored 40 points in the paint and grabbed 46 rebounds, twice as many as the Beavers. NSU’s 13 offensive rebounds led to 19 second-chance points.

Lily Klein led the Wolves with 13 rebounds.

Northern, 14-11 overall and 9-10 in the NSIC, is still tied for seventh place in the chase to host a postseason playoff game. The Wolves play at Minnesota-Duluth on Saturday afternoon.
