SIOUX FALLS – In the penultimate game of the regular season, Aberdeen Central came up short Tuesday night, as the fifth-rated Golden Eagles fell 46-45 to Sioux Falls Roosevelt in non-conference girls’ basketball on the road.

Central trailed by one following the opening quarter of action, then played the Rough Riders even-up the remainder of the way.

“They shot the ball well and we couldn’t get a stop defensively,” said Central coach Paiton Burckhard.

Central remained without the services of senior center Taryn Hermansen. The win gave Roosevelt just its sixth win of the season.

“It’s important at this point in the season to play your best basketball and I don’t feel like we did consistently,” Burckhard said. “So, we move on to the next, hone in on things we need to do better and get better at them.”

Ava Yeske notched a team-best 13 points for Central. Kenadi Withers added a dozen points, going 8-for-10 from the free throw line. As a team, however, the Golden Eagles went 12-for-19 from the line.

Roosevelt was led by Katelyn Duin’s 17 points. Henlee Loof chimed in with 15 for the Rough Riders.
