HERREID – Herreid-Selby Area nailed seven three-point field goals to fuel a 58-34 non-conference girls’ basketball win over Aberdeen Christian Friday night.
Katie Allbee scored 12 points, all on 3-pointers, to help foil the Knights strategy of defending the Wolverines’ two six-foot players (Jada Rossow and Jordyn Rossow) inside.
“The first half we fight really good, but the second half they came out hot,” said Knights coach Cristian Martinez. “We stopped their big girls, but can’t stop their guard.”
Herreid-Selby Area made five of its seven treys in the second half as the hosts pulled away to secure the victory.
Steph Allbee finished with 13 points to lead a balanced scoring attack for the Wolverines, who improved to 10-4 on the season. Taryn Hettick contributed nine, Mya Ebel and Jada Rossow each added eight.
Chloe Bosma scored 12 points and Chloe Holt followed with 10 to lead Christian. Sophia Fogarty tossed in eight.
“It was a really good game,” Martinez said, “and I’m really proud of my girls.”
The Knights (2-13 on the season) are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Ipswich.
