Central boys tie for eighth at Yankton Invitational

YANKTON – Aberdeen Central finished in a tie for eight place in the team standings at the Yankton Invitational Golf Tournament on Friday.

The individual championship was a battle as sixth golfers finished within one stroke of each other. Watertown’s Jake Olson ended up winning the title on the third playoff hole. Olson, teammate Kaden Rylance, and Harrisburg’s Riley Christensen each finished with rounds of 68. Three other golfers had rounds of 69.

Watertown edged Harrisburg by two strokes for the team title, with O’Gorman four shots off the pace.

Olson recently came up short in a seven-hole playoff at the Hub City Invitational.

Central was led the Brust brothers. Peyton and Cole each tied for 29th place with rounds of 77. Carter Blanchard and Jackson Ravellette each tied for 46th with rounds of 80. Kyle Senger tied for 63rd with an 84, and Quincy Madsen tied for 73rd with an 86.

The Golden Eagles head to the Mitchell Invitational on Friday.
