ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Jordan Ronn scored early in overtime to lift the Aberdeen Wings to a 2-1 win over St. Cloud and a weekend sweep of their two-game series.

Things could not be much tighter in the Central Division of the North American Hockey League standings. The Wings currently have the same amount of points as Minot and North Iowa in the third position of the Central standings with two games remaining. Austin has clinched the division and St. Cloud is in second place. The top four teams qualify for the playoffs.

Aberdeen never trailed against St. Cloud on Saturday night. The Wings took the lead in the opening period on a goal by Roope Tuomioksa on an assist by Dylan Wegner.

The score remained 1-0 until the Norsemen tied the contest in the opening minute of the third period.

The contest was deadlocked until Ronn produced the game-winner slightly more than a minute into the overtime session on assists from Nick Justice and Nikolai Tishkevich.

The Wings were outshot 40-19 in the contest, but Cole Moore was up to the challenge in the Aberdeen goal with 39 saves.

The Wings will now host St. Cloud for the final two games of the regular season Friday and Saturday at the Odde Ice Center. Puck drop is set for 7:15 each night.
