HURON – The Aberdeen Central gymnastics team had a big showing during the Huron Triangular on Thursday night. The Golden Eagles had their top score of the season of 132.90 on the way to a runner-up finish in team points.
“I’m so proud of how these girls are putting it together when we need it,” said Central coach Mickey Everson. “We have been focusing on less pressure on the girls to make it fun and not worry about the score, but how they perform. It has paid off.”
Masyn Schutter led the Golden Eagles with a fourth place finish in the all-around. She was second on the bars.
It was a total team effort for the Central as Addison Everson was sixth in all-around, followed by teammates Alexis Bomesburger in seventh and Kaylee Naasz in eighth.
“We are working on some new skills that are just so close to up their level, adjusting their vaults, and cleaning things up,” Coach Everson said. “We’re nearing the end of the season, so now it’s just maintaining and being clean.”
The Eagles will head to Jamestown, N.D. on Saturday for a makeup meet before competing in the Eastern South Dakota Conference Meet next week.
