MITCHELL – Sisseton’s Izzy Metz finished fifth in the all-around in Class A at the State Gymnastics Meet on Saturday.
Metz was fifth in the vault (9.1167) and fifth on the beam (9.0833) on the way to her all-around total of 35.5166.
Deuel had multiple gymnasts finish in the top five in various events. Adysyn Wiesner was fourth on vault (9.1667), Tai Engels was fourth on bars (8.85) and fourth on floor (9.2167), and Hannah Cutshaw was fifth on bars (8.5333).
Aberdeen Central was led by Regan Lust in every event. Lust had a score of 8.9167 on the vault, 7.6167 on the beam, and 8.9833 on the floor. Other Golden Eagles in the vault included Hattie Gederos (8.8667) Alexis Bomesberger (8.6667) and Maddy Walberg (8.3167). Bomesberger scored an 8.4 on the floor.
“With only 5-6 girls competing varsity this year, we focused on having fun,” said Central coach Mickey Everson.
She said the gymnasts are already excited about next year.

“It was a great season,” Everson said, “and they were already talking about when they can get back to the gym as they have plans for next season.”
Katelyn Maeschen of Harrisburg was the Class AA all-around champion with 39.1834 points. Maggie Hausmann of Estelline-Hendrick was the Class A all-around champion with 37.9001 points.
