It was a big past week for several members of the Aberdeen Central boys’ track and field squad.
Sam Rohlfs had personal bests in a variety of events at the Eastern South Dakota Conference meet last Saturday at Swisher Field. He now owns the top long jump in Class AA at 22-feet 7-inches. He remains second in the triple jump, although he had a personal best in that event as well. The junior is also fourth in the 200-meter dash and fifth in the 100-meter dash. He also had PRs in both of those races on Saturday.
The Golden Eagles moved into first place in the 3,200-meter relay. Team members include Cole Burris, David VanVeen, Daniel Street and Josh Martin. The squad recorded the top time of 8:11.89 last week at the ESD meet.
Other Central boys among the top leaders include Josh Martin who is second in the 3,200-meter run and sixth in the 1,600, and Jacob Merxbauer who is fourth in the triple jump.
On the girls’ side, Central’s sprint medley relay team is third, Lexi Olson is fourth in the discus, Johanna Jarrot is tied for fourth in the high jump and Makenna Glanzer is tied for fourth in the pole vault.
