BRANDON – Warner senior Cody Larson had a memorable day during the Brandon Valley Invitational track and field meet on Saturday.

Larson established new schools records in the 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter runs. Both records had stood for more than 30 years.

Larson finished second in the 1,600-meter run in a time of 4:28.06 topping the old record of 4:33.60 set by Ryan Stroschein in 1987. Larson was third in the 3,200-meter run in a clocking of 9:48.24, erasing the old record of 9:48.61, also set by Stroschein in 1988.

In races loaded with Class AA competition, the only individuals to finish ahead of Larson on Saturday were runners from Sioux City, Iowa.

Larson will be running for South Dakota State University next season.
