YANKTON – Aberdeen Central scored a goal in each half and its defense did the rest as the Golden Eagles grabbed a 2-0 Eastern South Dakota Conference win over Yankton in a matchup of two unbeaten squads Friday night.

“Our girls played as a unit. Defended as a team and attacked as a team,” said Central coach Kendra Hanley. “It was a competitive game, everything you want in a match, some good soccer.”

Brianna Fischer scored both of Central’s goals with an assist from Jaxi Lozenski each time. Ava Beck had eight saves in goal for the Golden Eagles.

“We talked about when things get hard, it’s important in how we conduct ourselves. We are so proud of how we played, but more proud of our composure, unity, and togetherness,” Hanley said. “We worked through it all together in tonight’s game, and it feels so good to celebrate, especially on the long road trip home.”

Central, 6-0 on the season, hosts Tea Area at 11 a.m. next Saturday at Brownell Activities Complex.
